The Panic Dress

I love dresses. Coming from a girl that spent half her life in uniforms and when we were allowed civilian clothing, knees weren't supposed to show or you get a swift pass to the Level-Coordinator's office, when I got out of that system, I couldn't pass up the chance to buy one. Wearing it though, I reserve for non-regular occasions, birthdays, vacations, parties and even baptismals. I was itching to wear this dress though. It's pretty simple, linen dress my sister and I spotted, first noting that bright pink part that made me go back to that shop and buy it. A few days later, I wore it when I went out with my family on our usual Sunday routine, to the Mall for movie and lunch, onto church and then back home, tired but pretty happy. No attachments to the dress, no event *cues in* or so I thought. We were at the bookstore, groundfloor, my brother was in the fourth level, lunching with his friends before the movie. My mother then told me, "By the way, he's lunching with one of the professors of your college." I think a regular person would say, "Oh that's nice, say hi for me." I flat out panicked. I don't know which one she was but I told my mom I had to go and went straight for the nearest escalator. With my brother, anything factual is fair game, and I couldn't risk it. When I arrived there I was flushed and tired, and when I saw her face, I didn't really know who she was. Turns out she's a new professor in my college, her subjects I've already taken with other professors. While she can't embarrass me in class, I'll pass by her, I'm sure, every now and then, although I do think, I panicked for no reason. I really had to just get that moment out. So here's my panic dress, my sister says I look like 13 when I'm wearing this, but I'll take that as a compliment.
